MATOKE in 2008 MWC helped us to bring a cultural Dimension to the Mini World Cup

Local Band Matoke participated in the cultural events the Mini World Cup project organised in 2008. The Cambridge local band plays African inspired music, Mbaqanga, Jit and Reggae. We hope to have them again on the 20th and 21st June 2009 at COLDHAMS COMMON. MATOKE is a variety of green banana eaten in Uganda, Matoke is usually cooked inside a banana leaf, mashed and then eaten with a sauce of groundnuts. It has great cultural meaning to Ugandan People.

The Mini World Cup slogan get chosen! to go on the FIFA FUSSBALL GLOBE WM 2006

The slogan: "I love football because it has touched the hearts of the world" has been selected to go on the 360° FOOTBALL GLOBE screen that will go around Germany advertising
the World Cup. The FOOTBALL GLOBE is a symbol of how Germany is looking forward to hosting and organizing the 2006 FIFA World Cup™. It gives a lively form to the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ motto:
"A time to make friends™". This is the message we received from the Football GLOBE TEAM:
Dear soccer friend, we liked your statement on why you love soccer. It will feature for a time on an impressive 360° projection screen in the FOOTBALL GLOBE. Visit the Web site at: www.FIFAworldcup.com/globe/

Unique Cambridge Mini World Cup 2009 football balls
The football balls that will be used by the teams at these Summer football tournaments in the city of Cambridge, have been manufactured in Kenya through the charity Alive & Kicking UK. Alive & Kicking has established a major initiative to assist children and young people from poorer communities in Kenya to play more sport and at the same time address their vulnerability to diseases such as HIV / AIDS and Malaria.
